Live Edge Oak Dining Table
34” x 82” dining table constructed of a single 2” thick slab of oak. The natural edges and crotch of the tree are left intact to add character. The branching structure of the tree crotch are secured with butterfly shaped wood cross straps salvaged from the same tree. Other small voids and splits are filled with black resin. The base is made of 1” thick steel plate cut to shape with a plasma cutter torch and the cut edges left to show the torch cut process. Cross supports are welded, ground flush and the steel given a black oxide rubbed finish to create a patina.
